If you are bored of eating routine snacks and want to try a new dish, then Dabeli can be a great option. It is very easy to make Dabeli and the spices used in it enhance its taste a lot.

Dabeli Recipe-

Ingredients fo Dabeli

Pav – 8

Butter – 2 tbsp

Sweet chutney – half cup

Red or green chutney – half cup

Masala Peanuts – 2 tbsp

Thin sev – half cup

Coriander – half cup finely chopped

Pomegranate seeds – half cup

Dabeli Masala

Whole coriander – 2 tsp

Cumin – 1 tsp

Red chilli – 1 Cinnamon –

one inch piece Cloves -2

 Black pepper – 3-4

Dabeli Stuffing

Potato – 4

Tomato – 2

Green chilli – 1

Ginger – 1 inch long piece

Butter – 1 tablespoon

Oil – 1 tablespoon

Cumin – half teaspoon

Asafoetida – 1 pinch

Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Sugar – 3/4 tsp (if you wish)

Lemon juice – 1 tsp (if you wish)

Salt – as per taste (half teaspoon)

How  To make Dabeli,

we will first start the process of making masala. For this, add coriander seeds, fennel, cumin, black pepper and cinnamon in a pan. After this add bay leaves, sesame seeds, dry coconut and dry red chilli. Now add cloves and fry all the spices on low flame. When the aroma starts coming from the spices, turn off the gas.

And let the spices cool down. Now put all the spices in the mixer and add dry mango powder, sugar, turmeric and salt as per taste and grind them. After grinding the spices finely, take them out in a vessel. Masala for Dabeli is ready

Now to make the potato mixture, first boil the potatoes, peel them and mash them in a big bowl. After this, add 2 tablespoons oil in a pan and heat it. Meanwhile, put 3 teaspoons of Dabeli masala in a small bowl and add 2 tablespoons of tamarind chutney and one-fourth cup of water on top. Mix it well so that no lumps remain. Now put this spice mixture in hot oil.

After adding it to the oil, let the spices cook for at least 2 minutes. After this, add mashed potatoes and salt as per taste and mix well. After frying for 1 more minute, turn off the gas and take out the mixture in a bowl. After this, top the mixture with grated coconut, coriander leaves, pomegranate, sev and spicy peanuts.

Now take a nonstick pan/griddle and heat it on medium flame. During this, cut the pav from the middle and spread 1 spoon green chutney on one side and 1 spoon tamarind chutney on the other side. After this, fill the dabeli mixture in the pav and stuff 1 teaspoon finely chopped onion in it. After this, add butter on the pan and roast the prepared dabeli in it. This has to be roasted from both the sides till it becomes golden brown. After this, roll it in sev and serve hot.
